The federal data that Connecticut depends on is changing. CTData staff will walk through two sets of developments that affect the data you use for grants, planning, research, and program decisions.
First, the proposed changes to the 2030 Census: a redefinition of who counts as a "resident," a new citizenship question, and the elimination of the race, ethnicity, and sex questions.
Second, a federal ban on differential privacy that returns the Census Bureau to older disclosure-avoidance methods and is expected to reduce how much data — including from the American Community Survey — is available to the public.
We also want to hear from you: which datasets do you rely on, and which would you like us to cover? Tell us when you register. We may add topics based on what we hear, including datasets we have not yet planned to discuss.
