Data Resources

The products developed by CPES and its prevention partners include presentations, fact sheets, maps, charts, and other graphic representations of data, as well as guidance and resource documents. Products are provided with the goal of making data accessible to all users, regardless of their data skills or knowledge.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): Suicide Prevention Data Sources

CDC webpage on national data systems and sources relevant to suicide prevention, including links to data systems such as the Violent Death Reporting System (VDRS) and the Web-based Injury Statistics Query and Reporting System (WISQUARS).

Connecticut Suicide Advisory Board

Website of the CT Suicide Advisory Board, CT’s legislatively mandated single state-level advisory board for suicide prevention, intervention and response across the lifespan (PA 22-58; CGS Chapter 319, 17a-52). Website includes information on suicide risk and protective factors, resources, and data/statistics.

Connecticut School Health Survey (CSHS)

Connecticut’s version of the CDC Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) that captures data on health behaviors as well as school and social environments among Connecticut high school students in grades 9 to 12.

National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH)

An annual, nationally representative survey conducted across US states, which also contains Connecticut state-level data on substance use, mental health, and treatment needs and utilization.

CT Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME)

Annual statistics/counts of suicide deaths in CT by gender and age group dating back to 1990, based on death data collected and compiled by the CT Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
