The Position 

CTData is seeking an enthusiastic person who loves data, believes in our mission, and wants to grow within our organization to join our team as a Data Analyst. The Data Analyst will report to the Director of Data and Analytics and will work equally alongside both our Hartford Data Collaborative (HDC) Team and the Data Team on a variety of projects, including data linking, data analysis, report-writing, data visualizations, building dashboards, and more. This role encompasses a diverse set of responsibilities and opportunities to engage with both data and community members. 

The Data Analyst will split their time supporting CTData’s Data Team and our integrated data-sharing initiative, HDC. HDC facilitates data sharing and data integration among a network of Hartford area non-profit organizations, government agencies, and philanthropic partners. Data integrated through HDC provides community and government organizations with a more holistic view of individuals, families, and households in Hartford. 

The Data Analyst will be responsible for: 

  • Cleaning, transforming, and linking numerous datasets received by HDC from partner organizations. 

  • Analyzing Census Bureau data and state and non-profit administrative data. 

  • Creating accessible data reports and visualizations. 

  • Building interactive dashboards. 

  • Writing data stories and blog posts. 

This position can be primarily remote, although occasional travel within Connecticut will be required. The successful applicant must live in Connecticut or be willing to relocate to Connecticut. 

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Education and Experience Requirements 

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree including strong quantitative analysis skills and training, preferably in data analytics, data science, social science, public health, public policy, or related fields. 

  • At least 2-3 years of experience (excluding schoolwork/coursework) with data analytics in a related field.

What We’re Looking For 

  • Proficiency in Python (or another language that could allow quick learning of Python), Excel, and SQL. 

  • Strong analytical skills to clean, manipulate, analyze, and interpret data with minimal guidance. 

  • Experience working with messy datasets, which often include data quality issues, inconsistencies, and missing records, and the ability to document data quality issues and translate those issues into learning opportunities for data providers. 

  • Ability to conduct accurate, reproducible analyses and clearly document methods. 

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with staff and outside organizations, including data providers. 

  • Self-motivated, curious, and detail-oriented. 

Nice to Have 

  • Experience linking datasets from multiple sources using probabilistic or fuzzy matching with personally identifiable information (for example, name, date of birth, address, and other information) or the ability to quickly learn. 

  • Experience with data governance, data security, and privacy best practices, including responsible handling of sensitive data and personally identifiable information (PII). 

  • Familiarity with Census Bureau data (ACS, decennial census) and public data in Connecticut. 

  • Experience conducting basic statistical analyses. 

  • Experience with GIS and mapping software (e.g., ArcGIS). 

  • Experience with Tableau or other visualization tools. 

  • Strong communication and writing skills and ability to translate complex data into clear, accessible insights. 

  • Experience or comfort with presenting analyses to external partners and clients.

Benefits 

  • This is an exempt, salaried full-time position with an annual base salary of $60,000 to $68,000. 

  • CTData promotes a hybrid work policy with an office space in Hartford, CT. However, this position can be primarily remote with occasional travel within CT.  

  • 35-hour work week with a flexible work schedule  

  • 2 weeks of paid vacation time in the first year of employment (increasing to 3 weeks after 2 years of employment) 

  • 10 paid holidays plus one for your birthday  

  • Office is closed the week between December 25th and January 1st  

  • 3 personal days per year 

  • Accrual of 1 day of paid sick time per month 

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance  

  • 403(b) retirement plan

The Position 

At the Connecticut Data Collaborative (CTData), we work to build an ecosystem of data users in Connecticut to promote informed decision-making. We are seeking a Data Capacity Team Manager to supervise our learning and data capacity-building services. Our services include: Data Strategic Planning©,  our social enterprise, and CTData Academy, our data capacity-building program. Someone who will excel in this role will be entrepreneurial, organized, able to manage people, enjoy coaching and training clients, and enjoy building and expanding programs. 

Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Data Capacity Team Manager will: 

  • Manage a team of data trainers and coaches. 

  • Support team coordination for efficiency. 

  • Identify opportunities for collaboration across the organization. 

  • Support coordination of training, coaching, and community education events.  

  • Develop contingency plans for in-person events. 

  • Provide administrative oversight of CTData Strategic Planning and CTData Academy, including client and project management, and planning for growth and evaluation. 

  • Provide capacity-building coaching sessions for participating organizations and provide follow-up technical assistance as needed. 

  • Support team members to make improvements to programming as needed. 

  • Support business development efforts, including work with a team on grant applications and project proposals, outreach to potential clients, and fostering current client relationships.  

  • Help deliver revenue targets based on the business plan’s financial projections. 

This position can be primarily remote, although occasional travel within Connecticut will be required. The successful applicant must live in Connecticut or be willing to relocate to Connecticut.

  • Experience in community education, teaching, training, or coaching.
